Upcoming Events:

SUNSET SHELTER PROJECT: HAPCAP and the Athens County Foundation needs input from the community as they make plans to turn the Sunset Motel into a non-congregate shelter for people needing emergency housing. It will be an important and needed addition to services in Athens. As you know, we have a growing population of unhoused people who need assistance and guidance to move into their own housing units and move on with their lives. We want to offer best practice, compassionate, effective and responsible options for this population.

CALLIOPE CHOIR CONCERT

at Athens First United Methodist Church 

We are singing about water in our fall concerts; rivers, oceans, rain, tears, it’s all been keeping us afloat this season!  We didn’t know, when we set out, that we would be rehearsing through the news about “exceptional drought” and the destructive path of the hurricane through southern Appalachia. We did know that, post-election, we would need some essential lessons from water: 

run low and deep, seek new pathways, flow…

We will sing songs by Joni Mitchell, Moira Smiley, Merrill Garbus of the Tuneyards, and more! - and will be joined by sisters/singers/songwriters Molly and Bryn Sowash. This will be a concert filled with great music and community connection!
