Please see the list of upcoming opportunities below. 

Some are suitable for children/families with children of a specific age.  Others are suitable for all ages. I try to note ages as best I am aware. 

  • Saturday, May 21, 6-8p.m. (All Ages) Night at the Museum at the Southeast Ohio History Musuem on West State for event info and ticket prices (cheap for students/children) click here.  Katie Beth will be out of town for this event and unable to attend, but she is willing to assist with organizing a group if there is enough interest. Please email the office if interested.
  • Sunday, May 22, 11a.m. (Confirmation and Baptism Prep Students + Household member) Confirmation Class happening in the fellowship hall (or grabbing lunch and moving somewhere else if there is a church banquet that day), this is the last official class before summer.  There is a fun-only event scheduled for June, so please join us - see June 25 below.  
  • Every Thursday in June, 5:30-7p.m. (All Ages) Vacation Bible School in the fellowship hall.  5th grade and under are welcome to participate as campers.  Middle School, High School, and Adults are encouraged to participate as assistants or leaders.  On the Case is not a chronological curriculum, so folks can sign up for all the dates that work for them, though a consistent presence would be most helpful and very much appreciated! Email the office.
  • Thursday, June 2, 10a.m. (Current 9-12th graders) Ziplining with Hocking Hills Canopy Tours in Logan.  This will be a 2-3 hour event.  Cost and reservation is still being sorted as we should get a 2/3 discount for being local if they ever call me back (must call to reserve).  With the church paying half, the estimated cost for your child should be somewhere between $35 and $40 (it's normally $100+ per person for this event).  Your child may bring 1 guest, whose fees will also be half paid by the church.  To register, please email the office. Note, you will need to bring proof you are a local resident, so driver's license, permit, or school ID.  LET ME KNOW IF THIS ISN'T POSSIBLE.
  • Sunday, June 12, 11a.m. (All Ages) Renowned storyteller and folk music artist Steve Free will be performing directly after worship either outside or in the fellowship hall.  His work pulls on his Native American (Shawnee/Cherokee ) and Appalachian roots and is fun for all ages.  This event is free and cosponsored by Lifelong formation and Equity and Justice.  *This was supposed to be our May intergenerational event as originally there was to be no intergenerational programming in summer since we have VBS and most folks are gone in July - but Steve was unavailable on the May dates that were free for the church we when scheduled him back in late March.
  • Sunday, June 19, 11a.m. (All Ages) Katie Beth's Godspeed Party after worship.  Even though she's with us through the end of June, this was the only date available on the church calendar due to other events which were pre-planned, such as the annual congregational meeting.  
  • Saturday, June 25, 5-8p.m.  (Confirmation and Baptism Prep Students)  Pontoon Boating and Swimming at Dow Lake.  If all students attend, there will be space for two adults in addition to Chad and Katie Beth.  If some students are unavailable, there will be more adult spaces.  (We are hoping to rent a 9 person pontoon.)  Water, juice, chips, and veggie and beef sliders will be provided.  You bring your suit, sunscreen, and the fun!  Cost is $15 per person.  The church is paying for half the rental, hence the reduced per person cost.  To register, please email the office.  
  • Friday, July 8 at 7p.m. - Sunday, July 10 at 11a.m. (All Ages) Family Camp at Lutheran Memorial Camp in Fulton Ohio.  For fees and info click here. The church can assist with half the fees per child for one session of summer camp (either family or regular).  For camp dates across all Lutheran camps in Ohio, click here and select your camp and then select "summer camp" for offerings.
  • Tuesday, July 26, 10a.m - 3p.m. (Those who have completed 8th-12th grades by July 26) This is a Synod Day Event, essentially a mini-youth gathering since the official Youth Gathering was canceled.  It will be held at Peace Lutheran in Gahanna. The cost is $35 but the church will reimburse half.  Pastor Chad is willing to accompany any youth who wish to attend.  More details are attached to this email. Register by emailing both Pastor Chad (chad@clcathens.org) and our synod contact, Gary Pecuch (gpecuch@southernohiosynod.org) with your child's name, grade completed this year, and any special dietary needs as lunch is provided. 
  • Sunday, August 28, 11a.m.  (Confirmation and Baptism Prep Students) Confirmation restarts and is every fourth Sunday at the same time, through the fourth Sunday in October, with the actual baptism/affirmation of baptism scheduled for the 5th Sunday in October during worship, i.e. Reformation Sunday. 
  • Sunday, September 4, 11a.m. (Wee ones, ages 7 and under) Wee ones gathering will return after worship, pending we have volunteers to lead and assist.  This is also Labor Day weekend, so depending on attendance, it may wait until October for its return.  Current plan is to stay on the first Sunday of the month.
