It's mid-July! Where is summer even going? Hope everyone is well this week.
Please note the following community news items:
- Athens & Hocking County Solid Waste District are holding a Hazardous Materials Collection Day this Saturday, July 17th from 9am - 1pm at the Hocking College, Lot #3 3301 Hocking Pkwy, Nelsonville, OH 45764. You will need proof of residence for Athens or Hocking County in the form of an ID or public utility bill. For a list of materials that will be accepted, please click on the flier under "Downloads" at the bottom of the post. Note that e-waste will not be accepted at the event, but AHRC accepts small electronics at their facility on Poston Road during normal business hours. Styrofoam will also not be accepted at the event, but clean styrofoam (packing styrofoam - not food styrofoam) and packing peanuts are accepted by OU at their recycling drop off at the Ridges. Please check with OU on drop off times.
- The Athens Area Mediation Service is sponsoring a series of three Zoom meetings to explore the impact of racism on ourselves and our communities. The meetings will be on the following Tuesdays, July 20, 27 and August 3, from 7-8pm. All are invited. No prior experience discussing these issues is required! Click Here to register.
- LSS Mobile Food Pantry will continue to be open for clients from 11 a.m. - Noon on 2nd Thursdays at the Plains UMC and 4th Mondays at the Coolville Fire House. For more information, or to volunteer, contact the office.

*For those unable to join us outside, the service will be simultaneously live streamed and remain available for later viewing. In the event of rain, worship will move into the sanctuary and masks will be required for all people over the age of two, regardless of vaccination status.
**If you are in need of a chair, or need assistance transporting a chair from your vehicle, please let the office know. We are happy to help.
